Incumbency seems to be the biggest predictor of success at the ballot box. In past elections, we calculated the chances of reelection at 91%. This year, the chances of re-election were even better. The percentage of incumbents went up this year. Two years ago, there were 65 unopposed House legislators. This year, there were 70 unopposed.
