It was a dark and stormy day -
Awareness screams at me. The clock by the bed fools me into thinking it is 4:15 am. Good God! 4:15 in the morning. What cause would be worth this assault on my sleep or personal well being?

Lying there in the darkness, trying to remember who I am, the night before discussion with her came flooding back to me.

“We do this as part of our civic duty. I promised to help be a precinct worker.” she who is my consensus on what passes for common sense, tries to explain yet one more time, why I would be up before 5 am.”

My job is to be very simple. Just make the coffee.

A whopping 48%. That was the percentage of turn out in Hickman County’s primary on Tuesday. Almost half the registered voters in this small rural far Western Kentucky county showed up at the polls...

...I know firsthand about the enthusiasm that Hickman Countians show for casting their ballots. For the last several years, it has been my privilege to spend Election Tuesday from the predawn hours (be here no later than 5:30) until after sunset working at one of the local polling stations. It is an experience that simultaneously elates and humbles me...

Rand Paul - Confident, Aggressive at Candidate Forum
Dr. Rand Paul talks to well wishers at February debate in Paducah
Rand Paul - Confident, Aggressive at Candidate Forum
Dr. Rand Paul didn’t wait one minute to go after opponent Trey Grayson Saturday at the GOP candidate forum in Paducah. In his opening remarks, he accused Grayson of lying about his stance on abortion.
...Paul seemed confident and at ease. He worked in references to conservative talk shows, saying that he had been on Glenn Beck and other news programs. And, he reminded the crowd, Sarah Palin endorsed him.

A Crack in the Normal: Fine Art of Controlling and Directing Protest

A Crack in the Normal: Fine Art of Controlling and Directing Protest
2/15/10 - ...We are morally drifting. Our public energies are seeking a new path of security and trust for healing our wounded economic lives. We question and give doubt to our traditional leaders. The ism of capitalism is morphing into something not seen since the robber baron days of 1910. Corporations now have the equal rights of humans. An Open Letter to Rand Paul
GOP Senate candidate Rand Paul at 2009 Fancy Farm Picnic in Graves County, KY
An Open Letter to Rand Paul
"....When you say you want to "take our government back" you are echoing dictators who want to impose their ideologies on the citizenry.  You are saying you do not want to represent me, Leslie in Graves County, who does not agree with your extreme views.  I want our politicians to act like grown-ups and be able to acknowledge that other points of view have validity and that democracy involves compromise and majority rule...l"
