President's Tucson Speech

The Paducah Sun featured President Obama's trip to Tucson on page 5A in today's paper, according to readers upset with the placement.  If that is true, that's a shame because of what it says about the paper and its management.

The speech has been praised by both the left and the right for its healing properties.  Here's the link to the speech on C-Span's website for those who missed it the first time or want to hear it again.

TRAINING HELPS FARMERS GET READY FOR RETAIL

The University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service will conduct four MarketReady training sessions in February to help farmers across the Commonwealth looking to sell their products at retail in order to boost their profits and stay in farming.

The training sessions, each beginning at 9 a.m. and concluding at 3 p.m. local time, will be held Friday, Feb. 11 at the Campbell County Extension office in Highland Heights, Ky.; Wednesday, Feb. 16 at the Pulaski County Extension office in Somerset, Ky.; Wednesday, Feb. 23 at Elk Creek Winery in Owenton, Ky.; and Thursday, Feb. 24 at the Warren County Extension office in Bowling Green, Ky.

Editor's Note: A reader reminded me that we ran this story back on January 13, 2010. We think it's worth repeating.  

The General Assembly has posted compensation and expenses for legislators, personal service contracts  and legislative employees.  The database can be accessed by selecting Legislative Branch Expenditures on the left panel of the  Legislative Research Commission  homepage...West Kentucky House members averaged $67,484.28 in 2010. West Kentucky Senators averaged $68,785.82 for their service. (These numbers do not include retirement benefits.) 

We looked at those numbers for members of West Kentucky’s legislative delegation for 2010.
