QUAKE HITS U.S. SUNDAY

Seismologists across the U.S. reported that a 3.0 tremor shook the continental United States this past Sunday.

The quake set off alarms even in areas with no known fault lines and no record of previous earthquake activity.

Cancellations in Graves County Middle School
The eighth grade boys' basketball regional tournament final, to be played at Graves County Middle School this Tuesday evening, between Heath and North Marshall middle schools has been postponed.
 
The Graves County Middle School boys' basketball banquet scheduled for this Tuesday evening at GCMS has been moved to this Thursday at 6:30 pm.  If a decision is made to close Graves County Schools on Thursday, the banquet will be rescheduled.  No official word yet on when the girls' banquet, originally scheduled for Monday night (2-7), will be rescheduled.
 
Graves County Middle School's Site-Based Decision-Making Council meeting originally planned for today (this Tuesday) has been moved to next Tuesday, February 15th, at 3:30 pm in GCMS library.
 
All this information is according to Graves County Middle School principal Andy Williams.

The King's Speech: a movie worth watching and owning

I don’t often do movie reviews. Strike that. I NEVER do movie reviews. But a film we saw last week, “The King’s Speech” moved me to write something.  I am not going to rate the film with cutesy icons. By way of recommendation, I will say that it is a movie we will buy when it comes out on DVD, if only to catch up on the lines and the scenery we missed the first time around. That may become my review standard - “Would I have this film in my house?”
