Beware filter bubbles

Wow. Did you know that what you see on the Internet isn't the same as what I see? Personalization of internet choices means that what you looked at yesterday determines what you see today.

It's all part of net designers trying to "help" us by not presenting stories, websites, issues that we might not like or be familiar with. It's happening on facebook, google, amazon and may soon come to news sites like huffington post and the washington journal.

Web designer Eli Pariser thinks that's a bad idea for democracy and a bad idea for the freedom and openness we thought the web would offer. Take the time to watch his short talk on Ted.com He explains it way better than I can!
