Ft. Knox Soldier: Sgt. Jeremy R. Summers

FRANKFORT, Ky.– Gov. Steve Beshear today recognized the sacrifice of a Kentucky native, Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

According to the Department of Defense, Sgt. Jeremy R. Summers, 27, of Mount Olivet, KY., died July 14 in Paktika province, Afghanistan, after enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire on July 13.  He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky.
