Governor Beshear issued a proclamation today calling the General Assembly back to session beginning on August 19th to take up redistricting. The issue has been rolling around both chambers since US census data became available after 2010.

Governor Beshear expressed confidence that leaders in both Houses would be ready with plans that will limit the session to no more than five days. Kentucky taxpayers will shell out $40,000 every day the General Assembly is meeting.

At least two Jackson Purchase legislative districts are on the block to be sliced and diced, making this an important special session for the area.

Health care law is saving Kentuckians money and bringing transparency to the market

Today, Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced that 206,771 Kentucky residents will benefit from $14,405,533 in rebates from insurance companies this summer, averaging $100 per family, thanks to the Affordable Care Act.
