Happy New Year to up to 1 million Americans losing extended unemployment benefits
Extended unemployment benefits expire at end of 2013

213,260 Kentuckians received extended unemployment benefits through the Emergency Unemployment Compensation program between January 2008 and September 2013.

The program is set to expire December 28, 2013. There doesn't appear to be any will in Congress to continue the program.

What follows are the White House's reasons why it should be.
