Arising from the rubble - Historical Society celebrates on Saturday

(Clinton, KY) - On Saturday, April 24, 2014, the Hickman County Historical & Genealogical Society will officially re-open its doors to the community. The Society will provide brunch foods and tours of its new facilities between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and noon.

It will be a celebration of arising from the rubble of the past year.

The chickens are springing up all over Clinton in anticipation of the 4th Annual Spring Chicken Festival.

There will be fun runs, a "Chicken Idol" competition, music on the square, cornhole tournament, open houses, and chicken themed food available on the square.

(Mayfield, KY) - Author Sid Easley will read from and talk about his recent book A Courthouse Tragedy: Politics, Murder, and Redemption in a Small Kentucky Town Saturday morning in the Mayfield, Kentucky, courthouse where the crime and subsequent trial took place more than ninety years ago.

The event, hosted by the Jackson Purchase Historical Society, begins at 10:30 AM Saturday, April 26, in the District Courtroom on the ground floor of the historic Graves County Courthouse on the square in Mayfield, Kentucky. It is free and open to the public.
