Historical Society to honor legacy of Harry Lee Waterfield

(Clinton, KY) - Harry Lee Waterfield was a newspaper publisher, a farmer, cattleman, businessman and politician. Waterfield and his family lived in Hickman County for many years.

The Hickman County Historical and Genealogical Society will honor his legacy on Tuesday, September 6th as part of the 2016 Heritage Days celebration. A room in the Historical Society Building on S. Washington Street at 4:30 on Tuesday, September 6th will be dedicated as the Waterfield room. A dinner will be held at 6:00 p.m that day. Public is invited to attend.

The Fulton County Democratic Executive Committee is having a "Fulton County River Banquet" Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Methodist Enrichment Center, 105 East Wellington Street, Hickman, Ky.

The Hickman County Arts Council cordially invites the public to visit the old courthouse building and see the display case they just finished preparing for exhibit. Members contributed "treasures of past days."

September 6-10th are Heritage Days in Hickman County. The week following Labor Day Weekend will be full of singin', talkin', tradin' and sellin'. It's all about being old-timey!

Events around the county seat of Clinton will commemorate the history, culture and legacy of the oldest county in the Jackson Purchase. Last year, the high point of the week was the Old Hymn Sing on Friday evening. This year, the Farmer and Flea Market will be held on the grounds of the Hickman County Courthouse.
