FRANKFORT, Ky. (Dec. 5, 2016) - Lydia Bailey Brown will serve as the Executive Director of the Kentucky Arts Council. Bailey Brown was nominated by Don Parkinson, Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet Secretary, and approved today by the Kentucky Arts Council Board.

During a festive holiday gathering at MeMaw's on Thursday evening, December 8^th, special guest Kentucky State Senator Reggie Thomas, of the 13th District, brought to the attention of his fellow Democratic Party followers that their Party seems to have lost the heart and soul of Middle America..

Senator Thomas supports building a bridge between Kentucky and Missouri, but says the funding needs to be found. "It is a federal issue and hopefully if we can get Senator Mitch McConnell and Senator Rand Paul behind it, we can make it happen."

"I am well aware of the challenges that Fulton County is facing," he said. He attributes a lot of that to Fulton County Democratic Committee Chairman Brad Wiley.

WASHINGTON - Communications and Technology Subcommittee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) and committee member Rep. John Yarmuth (D-KY) today introduced a bipartisan bill to repeal the newspaper broadcast cross-ownership ban.

Versailles, Ky. (December 2, 2016) - Tammy Thompson, public relations coordinator at West Kentucky Community and Technical College, was elected board secretary to the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) Board of Regents, during a board meeting last week.

Thompson, a staff representative on the KCTCS Board of Regents, will fill the vacancy created by Regent Betsy Flynn's term expiration in September 2016. Thompson will serve as the Secretary to the KCTCS Board of Regents beginning December 2, 2016, through June 30, 2017.

Paducah, KY - Paducah Tilghman High School senior Claire Kelly has been named a semifinalist in the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation Program. Kelly is one of 2,000 high school seniors nationwide selected from a pool of more than 87,000 applicants to advance in the scholarship program based on academic excellence, leadership, and service to the community.

Tim Longmeyer recently entered his third guilty plea arising out of the kickback of about $200,000 he received. The first was in federal court, then before the state executive branch ethics commission, and now in state criminal court. And, each time he said he apologized to all the people he let down. Baloney!...

(Fulton, KY) - Fancy Fannie's Bakery at 422 Lake Street in Fulton is named for matriarch Carolyn Byassee's grandmother. Grandmother Fannie was a baker in East St. Louis years ago...

The bakery offers an assortment of goodies - snowmen made from cupcakes, wedding cakes, party snacks, and pies. Fridays through Sundays are for donuts - plain, chocolate and glazed. They also do apple fritters and sausage, egg and cheese biscuits.

MURRAY, Ky. - Murray State University's December 2016 Commencement ceremony was celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 10, in the CFSB Center on the Murray campus.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Dec. 9, 2016) - Nominations of 14 sites to the National Register of Historic Places, and a research project documenting a new statewide context to evaluate future submissions, will be considered by the Kentucky Historic Preservation Review Board during its next meeting at 10 a.m. Monday at Frankfort Convention Center.

Paducah City Hall and the Kentucky Hydroelectric Project in Marshall - Livingston County are on the list for consideration.

PADUCAH, KY - West Kentucky Community & Technical College's Fall 2016 nursing pinning ceremony will be held Monday, December 12 at the Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center. The ceremony begins at 5 p.m.

Forty-eight nursing students will cross the stage to receive nursing pins in their respective programs with 26 receiving pins representing the completion of the associate degree in nursing program and 22 receiving pins representing the completion of the practical nursing program.
