Greg Kelly at home in Delphia, Ky. A former coal miner, Kelly has an advanced stage of black lung disease known as complicated black lung or progressive massive fibrosis.
Last month, NPR's Investigation Unit with help from the Ohio Valley ReSource broke news that federal regulators failed to prevent an outbreak of the worst form of Black Lung Disease, an outbreak that now affects more than 2,000 miners.
Tonight FRONTLINE from PBS will air a special program, "Coal's Deadly Dust." The program depicts the rise of an aggressive form of black lung disease plaguing thousands of coal miners across Appalachia - and how federal regulators and the industry failed to protect miners. You can see the trailer of "Coal's Deadly Dust" here.
It's eye-opening reporting. Be sure to watch. Tonight @ 9:00 on KET, NPT or WSIU.
