A Short (no pun intended) Comment on Rep. Wiener

The latest scandal out of Washington involves New York Congressman Anthony Wiener and photos of himself that he sent to women he met on the internet. Seriously, I did not make this up.

The whole sad ugly episode has led me to three conclusions:

1. Doing something that is wrong then lying about it is stupid and makes things worse.

Any child who has broken a lamp could tell him that initial denials are seldom believed. Congressman Wiener should have consulted a host of former elected officials in both political parties before he took to the podium the first time to allege that his account was hacked and someone else did it.

2.  Do not, under any circumstances, send photos of your nether regions to anyone over the internet- especially if your name happens to be Wiener.

Before you text, tweet, facebook or whatever, ask yourself, "What would my mama say if she saw this?"

This rule applies to all ages, sexes, occupations, political parties.

3.  The Congressman should quit his job in Congress.

He cannot represent his constituency in the way they deserve to be represented. Some day he may rehabilitate his reputation. But I doubt it.

And a note to my conservative friends - do not chortle over this scandal, lest the opposition remind the public of the errors in your ranks.

And to my progressive friends - defending this creep is creepy. Please don't.
