PTHS wins District 3 Governor's Cup


Paducah Public Schools       01.28.13

For Immediate Release

The Paducah Tilghman High School academic team won the District Governor's Cup competition  held at Lone Oak High School on January 26.  Tilghman scored 65 points to finish first. Heath, Lone Oak, and Reidland also participated in the competition.

The PT Quick Recall team won first place. Team members are Will Hancock, Catherine Miller, Andrew Zaninovich, Reese Butler, Miles Butler, Justin Holt, Lilly Burba, Erin Burba, Parker Loyd, Avery Harriman, Jacob Holtgrewe, and Trae Hampton.

The PT Future Problem Solving team won first place.  Team members are Catherine Miller, Savanna Whelan, Alicia Humphrey, Lilly Burba, and Caroline Washer.

In Individual Assessments:

Andrew Zaninovich was 1st and Will Hancock was 3rd in Social Studies.

Erin Burba was 1st, Jacob Holtgrewe was 3rd, and Trae Hampton was 4th in Science.

Catherine Miller was 1st, Meg Hancock was 3rd, and Andrew Zaninovich was 5th in Arts and Humanities.

Reese Butler was 2nd in Math.

Marissa Davis was 1st, Avery Harriman was 2nd, and Lilly Burba was 4th in Language Arts.

Will Hancock was 1st and Alicia Humphrey was 4th in Composition.

In the past five years, PTHS has been district champion twice and runner-up three times. The Quick Recall team, Future Problem Solving team and top-five Individual Assessment finishers advance to the regional competition at Marshall County High School on February 12 and 16.
