Graves Truck Pullers' eighth annual event draws crowd, helps local public school children in need at Christmas

The Graves County Truck Pullers Association hosted its eighth annual truck and tractor pull Saturday night, Aug. 15, at the Mayfield-Graves County Fairgrounds. A large crowd and numerous competitors participated in the event. Friends Larry Wooley, Ricky Wilson, Kenny Wiggins, and Kenneth Wiggins originated and continue to lead it.

Each year, all proceeds go to provide Christmas assistance to students in need in the Mayfield and Graves County schools. Numerous sponsors partner with the group with financial support to present the event. Competition includes 2-wheel drive trucks, light super stock tractors, diesel 4X4's, super farm tractors, pro street 4X4's, pro stock 4X4's, and open 4X4's. Both the Ken/Ten Truck and Tractor Pullers and National Tractor Pullers Association sanction the competition.

Historically, organizers announced the total of funds raised and present checks to the Mayfield and Graves County school boards each fall. Family resource and youth services centers of the individual schools rotate working concession stands and benefiting from profits for food and soft drinks as well.
