Graves County farmer Ricky Wilson directs Monsanto Fund donation to Family Resource and Youth Services Centers
Graves County Schools finance director Jimmilyn Hancock, FRYSC directors Kaye Horn, Jennifer Morris, Ricky Wilson.

The Graves County Schools' Family Resource and Youth Services Centers have received a $2,500 donation form America's Farmers Grow Communities, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund and directed by local farmer Ricky Wilson of Graves County. The donation will help the FRYSC coordinators in removing barriers to learning for students in need in the Graves County Schools and their families.

"We're very grateful to Ricky Wilson, who is one of the four founders of the Graves County Truck and Tractor Pullers group for designating us for this donation," said Jennifer Morris, family resource center director at Symsonia and Farmington elementary schools. "He and his friends, Larry Wooley, Kenneth Wiggins, and Kenny Wiggins have raised money over the years through the summer event they created and lead to help children in need have a merry Christmas. Now, he's taking this opportunity to donate for our on-going projects and services."

"When we started our truck and tractor pull nearly ten years ago, we all decided helping children here in our own home county was the perfect cause for our donations," Wilson said, "and we still believe that! I feel very honored to receive this Monsanto Fund grant and want to share it in a way that will really help kids."

For six years, America's Farmers Grow Communities has collaborated with farmers to donate over $22 million to more than 8,000 community organizations across rural America. Winning farmers direct donations to non-profits to help fight rural hunger, purchase life-saving fire and EMS equipment, support ag youth leadership programs, buy much-needed classroom resources, and so much more.

America's Farmers Grow Communities partners with farmers to support local nonprofit causes that positively impact farming communities across rural America. Grow Communities is one program in the America's Farmers community outreach effort, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund. Other programs include America's Farmers Grow Ag Leaders, which encourages rural youth to remain in agriculture and provides $1,500 college scholarships to high school and college students pursuing ag-related degrees and America's Farmers Grow Rural Education, which works with farmers to nominate rural school districts to compete for $10,000 and $25,000 math and science grants.
