Breakfasts, Dinners presage political speaking
Congressman John Yarmuth is scheduled to be at McCracken County Dem Dinner 8/3/17

The Grand Old Party and the Democrats will gather again in the Purchase for a series of chomp ins around the annual Fancy Farm Picnic.

Congressman John Yarmuth will be the headliner at the McCracken County Democratic Dinner on Thursday, August 3rd. The dinner begins at 6:00 in Walker Hall, 229 Madison Street, in Paducah. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.

Yarmuth, the only Democrat in Kentucky's congressional delegation, serves as ranking member of the House Budget Committee, is often seen on television as a Democratic spokesman.

Republicans gather in Marshall County for a GOP Night Before Rally Friday evening, August 4th at the new Marshall County Middle School2211 US Highway 641 Spur, Benton, Kentucky. No speaker list is available at this time. The Rally begins at 5:00 and a pork chop dinner catered by The Keg of Murray starts at 6:00. Tickets are $25.

Beans are on the menu at the Mike Miller Democratic Bean Dinner in Marshall County on Friday, August 4th from 6-11 p.m. cdt at Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park in Gilbertsville. Speakers include Rep. Sannie Overly, Democratic Party Chair, Rep. Will Coursey, Secretary of State Alison Grimes and Attorney General Andy Beshear.

Stoke up on carbs before heading out to Fancy Farm at breakfasts sponsored by the parties. Red meat will also be on their menus!

Graves County Democrats have their an annual breakfast at Mayfield High School Cafeteria Saturday August 5th from 8:30 - 11. Speakers list not available at this writing. Information available on the GCD Facebook page Graves County Democrats

Republicans will gather at Graves County High School from 8 - 11:30 a.m. on Saturday August 5th. Invited speakers include Governor Bevin, Senators Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul and other elected officials. Tickets are $20. For more information, Graves County Republican Facebook page

St. Jerome's Fancy Farm Picnic, touted as the world's largest picnic, will be going on from Friday the 4th with a 5K run, bingo then through the speaking at 2:00 then on to the evening.

Other events not publicly advertised will be meetings, golf scrambles and get togethers around the Purchase. Then there's the shopping, the Lakes and Patty's pork chops.

It promises to be hot and steamy this year - whether there's fire from the speaker's platform or night. Dress for the weather and come on out.
