PADUCAH, Ky. (September 19, 2014) - More than 400 people attended West Kentucky Community and Technical College's Scholarship Auction at the Julian Carroll Convention Center. The event raised over $80,000 for student scholarships.

The live auction featured 27 items such as a vacation to a private villa in Salernes, France - which brought the largest bid. Also featured were such items as weekend packages to watch the Nashville Predators and the Tennessee Titans Special getaway packages in Tennessee, North Carolina and St. Louis, and a unique bilateral bladeless LASIK surgery package from Dr. Barbara Bowers. Bidders also competed for nearly 150 items in the silent auction.

Ashley Wright, vice president of institutional advancement at WKCTC, said the unofficial total raised was nearly $80,000, which will all go directly to the WKCTC general scholarship fund.

"This is the biggest fundraiser for students that we have all year. We want to provide as many scholarships to as many students as is possible each year," Wright said. "But we're not just raising money for scholarships, we're having an impact on our students that will last for the rest of their lives."
