Butterfly Rose wowed a small crowd on Saturday evening in Clinton with a musical history lesson. The Americana duo, Carol Zamora and Kaye Pryor, are Nashville residents. Kaye has a local connection with family in Paducah.

Their latest CD, "Women of the Smokies" is a collection of pieces inspired by the book of the same name. From a tribute to Tennessee icon Dolly Parton, of Sevier County Tennessee to the sad story of five sisters who lived in the back woods and "refused to change" songs told the stories of accomplished women.

With their songs, the duo told stories of how the songs came to be. Zamora often referred to places linked to their songs that can be reached by hiking. "We've never been there" she would joke.

The women spent a full day with musicians, conducting a songwriting workshop earlier in the day. They complimented the eight budding writers during the concert.

Butterfly Rose is named for a plant that blooms in several colors simultaneously and is beautiful and resilient.
