Carroll comes to Mayfield to recommend Wright for House | Julian Carroll, Mayfield, Kentucky, election 2016, Jesse Wright, Graves County, McCracken County,

Candidate for the Second District, Jesse Wright, was the center of attention at a Graves County Democratic fundraiser on September 29th. Over a hundred friends, family and supporters came to hear his plan for defeating incumbent Richard Heath.

Wright was clear that his goal was to interview for a job. This isn't a contest, he told supporters. "This is a job application." He is disturbed by the lack of activity on the part of his opponent.Jesse Wright

"It is unfathomable that someone comes into your office, asks for a job. Then goes and does nothing for four years." Wright said. He told supporters that he does not want to retire from the Kentucky House. He believes in term limits and will file a bill for limits if elected.

He told the crowd that his opponent doubled the amount of damage that car dealers can hide from customers and voted against increasing the per diem for foster care families. The amount paid to foster care families who take in abused, neglected and dependent children hasn't been increased in 13 years.

Wright said he will fight to make the Second District "relevant" in Frankfort.

Former Governor Julian Carroll, in Paducah to support the candidacy of Rep. Gerald Watkins, in Paducah, also stopped by to urge voting for Wright and to share some memories. The now Kentucky Senator looked around the Mayfield Graves Senior Citizen Center ThursdayJulian Carroll working crowd in Mayfield evening. Then he proclaimed grinning "I built this building!"

He told the crowd that when their former County Judge Dick Castleman found out that there were plans to build three senior citizen centers he contacted Governor Carroll and asked for his community to get one. Carroll agreed and the building was built.

Carroll also reminded listeners that Highway 45 was built on his watch. He asked if anyone remembered the old Highway 45, the Mayfield to Paducah road). Those who did grimaced. It was two lanes and slow.

Now the four lane highway has a 65 mile an hour speed limit. Carroll crowed "We outran that state trooper."

There were nods from the older members of the crowd gathered.

Carroll told the crowd that he was unopposed in his quest for reelection and that he planned to run again for another term when this one is finished.
