Bad Money, Reckless Finance, Failed Politics and the Global Crisis of American Capitalism
Kevin Phillips' works are  jam cakes. Rich, dense writing chocked full of charts and graphs and facts, like raisins and candied fruit in a Christmas jam cake, then steeped in an outrage that leaves readers lying on the couch with a cold cloth compress.

He strikes again in his newest book, "Bad Money".  Here's a review from the LA Times.

David Sirota’s new book seems to be an unlikely candidate for the New York Times bestseller list-until you read it.

To paraphrase Renee Zellweiger to Tom Cruise - He had me at page 5 when he wrote in the first chapter of the book
poetically entitled “A Portrait of the Writer on a Bathroom Floor”.

First Timer's View of the KDP Convention
Last weekend's KDP Convention in Lexington was an interesting experience for this first-timer. We drove up Friday and attended the Jefferson-Jackson
fundraising dinner. While standing in line for our tickets I noticed some subtle maneuvering taking place.
At right - Delegate Charles Schneider from Paducah.

People were feeling out the competition and trying to place themselves as the person to beat for things like Central Steering Committee and National Delegate.

www.pageonekentucky.com quoted a reader who attended the Kentucky Democratic Convention on Saturday:

"Relatively unknown, but soon to be reckoned with, First Congressional District candidate Heather Ryan gave a passionate speech about her fight to unseat “Exxon” Eddie Whitfield (R-Florida) this November. She remarked that at a time of record gasoline prices, Whitfield’s half a million dollars in stock in Exxon and Chevron provide him with a handsome profit each time you fill your tank. She is definitely one to watch."

2008-2018: A New Series - Kentucky's Future
No one can predict the future with 100% accuracy, but for those whose livelihoods depend on spotting trends, there is more science than metaphysics. Researchers and analysts apply an algebraic formula to what’s to come. If A, then B. If not A, then C.

After reading this well written series in The Futurist Magazine, we decided to look at where Kentucky is going in the future.  For our first installment, in honor of our newly formed Kentucky Labor Cabinet, we look at what two experts say labor and workforce trends are for the next ten years and how their predictions relate to the Commonwealth.
