UPDATE: West Kentucky Counties lose ground according to recent report

  • The Kentucky Labor Force Estimates shows every county in West Kentucky above the 6% national unemployment average
  • In July 2007, the jobless rate was 5.5%. In July 2008, it’s 6.7%
  • From July 2007 to July 2008, government jobs have risen 11,700 jobs.
  • Professional and business services, which includes temp services, added 700 jobs in the last year. ..

TVA buys more electricity when water levels are down - as they have been in the southeast.

The Knoxville Sentinel is reporting TVA will raise electric rates by twenty percent which will hit customer bills in October.  The increase is the biggest since 1974.
