KACO outspends League of Cities
Deja all over again.
The Kentucky Association of Cities (KACO) gets the full Ryan Alessi attention in a story released over the weekend. All 120 counties contribute to KACO. The organization sells insurance and bonds county projects. Staff and board members also have a real good time.
Here’s a taste: “When the Kentucky Association of Counties sent six people to Washington, D.C., in March 2008 to attend a conference and lobby officials, the $31,700 trip included two dinners totaling $4,277 and a $10,000 cancellation fee for hotel rooms that weren't used”…  Lexington Herald

State property tax remains same for 2009
The 2009 state real estate property tax rate of 12.2 cents per $100 will be unchanged from 2008. The assessment "estimate" came in at 3.21%, short of the 4% needed to trigger an increase.
