Al Cross, in red shirt, with his mentor, Al Smith, at a past Fancy Farm Comment on Kentucky broadcast
Former reporter Al Cross will be the emcee at the Fancy Farm Picnic next Saturday. This is quite a change of gig for Cross who spent his journalistic first Saturdays in August sweating out a story from West Kentucky for the Courier Journal in Louisville.
Fortunately for Al, the hijinks of years past - marches, skits, drowning out the speaker with catcalls and chants - have been quieted somewhat by the increased presence of law enforcement in recent years.
Cross can be ringmaster where past emcees have been lion tamers.
Big Jim Bunning is in his last inning in the US Senate.
He's Out! That’s what Jack Brammer and the Lexington Herald are reporting about Senator Jim Bunning. He’s not running again for re-election. He can’t raise the money to run.
