That Was the Week That Was: the Arc of History, Shaken

The beaches at Isle of Palm, Charleston, South Carolina are 755 miles from my desk. That was where I was enjoying the surf early in the morning of June 18, 2015.

Back in the condo, over a second cup of black coffee, I turned on the television. Almost immediately, there was screaming across the screen BREAKING NEWS.

On the screen, another tragedy. This one only a few miles from where I sat enjoying the sun and surf.

Two former KY legisltors convinced of illegal activities

Two former members of the Kentucky General Assembly were recently convicted of illegal activities in which they engaged while serving as legislators.

Former Rep. Keith Hall was found guilty of paying $46,000 in bribes to a mine inspector.

Former Rep. Ben Waide of Madisonville pled guilty in Franklin Circuit Court to attempting to accept illegal campaign contributions and attempted unlawful campaign expenditures.

LRC Elthics Commission chooses new director

Electric utility settlement allows smaller than requested increases

FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 30, 2015) - The Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC) has approved a settlement that reduces the base rate increases sought by Louisville Gas & Electric Co. (LG&E) and Kentucky Utilities Co. (KU).

Under the terms of the unanimous settlement agreement, LG&E's electric customers will see virtually no change to base rates. Rates will increase for LG&E natural gas customers and KU customers, but the increases will be smaller than those requested by the two utilities.
