Lydia Bailey Brown Named Kentucky Arts Council Executive Director

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Dec. 5, 2016) - Lydia Bailey Brown will serve as the Executive Director of the Kentucky Arts Council. Bailey Brown was nominated by Don Parkinson, Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet Secretary, and approved today by the Kentucky Arts Council Board.

Sen. Thomas: searching for reasons for Dem losses

During a festive holiday gathering at MeMaw's on Thursday evening, December 8th, special guest Kentucky State Senator Reggie Thomas, of the 13th District, brought to the attention of his fellow Democratic Party followers that their Party seems to have lost the heart and soul of Middle America..

Senator Thomas supports building a bridge between Kentucky and Missouri, but says the funding needs to be found. "It is a federal issue and hopefully if we can get Senator Mitch McConnell and Senator Rand Paul behind it, we can make it happen."

"I am well aware of the challenges that Fulton County is facing," he said. He attributes a lot of that to Fulton County Democratic Committee Chairman Brad Wiley.

Local Woman Elected KCTCS Board of Regents Secretary

Versailles, Ky. (December 2, 2016) - Tammy Thompson, public relations coordinator at West Kentucky Community and Technical College, was elected board secretary to the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) Board of Regents, during a board meeting last week.

Thompson, a staff representative on the KCTCS Board of Regents, will fill the vacancy created by Regent Betsy Flynn's term expiration in September 2016. Thompson will serve as the Secretary to the KCTCS Board of Regents beginning December 2, 2016, through June 30, 2017.

The bakery offers an assortment of goodies - snowmen made from cupcakes, wedding cakes, party snacks, and pies. Fridays through Sundays are for donuts - plain, chocolate and glazed. They also do apple fritters and sausage, egg and cheese biscuits.

Paducah and Hydroelectric Project being considered for National Register

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Dec. 9, 2016) - Nominations of 14 sites to the National Register of Historic Places, and a research project documenting a new statewide context to evaluate future submissions, will be considered by the Kentucky Historic Preservation Review Board during its next meeting at 10 a.m. Monday at Frankfort Convention Center.

Paducah City Hall and the Kentucky Hydroelectric Project in Marshall - Livingston County are on the list for consideration.

WKCTC Nursing Students Receive Nursing Pins December 12 at Carson Center

PADUCAH, KY - West Kentucky Community & Technical College's Fall 2016 nursing pinning ceremony will be held Monday, December 12 at the Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center. The ceremony begins at 5 p.m.

Forty-eight nursing students will cross the stage to receive nursing pins in their respective programs with 26 receiving pins representing the completion of the associate degree in nursing program and 22 receiving pins representing the completion of the practical nursing program.
