A New Pain at Kentucky's Gas Pumps
Severe storms slamming into Australia’s eastern providences have flooded large coal mines and cause massive evacuation of oil drilling rigs. China is suffering from a snow storm that is devastating large regions and disrupting normal fuel deliveries. These storms are putting new pressures upon the oil markets for securing access to oil supplies.

Beyond the global storms and their impact on oil markets is OPEC. This latest surge in gas increase at the pumps is due in part to the uncertain actions of OPEC and their possible cut of production if global supplies continue to rise.
The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries is braced to cut up to 100,000 barrels a day from its production of crude oil at its next meeting. Oil was up on Monday 68 cents to $ 96.18 per barrel.

Once prices increase in Louisville, it takes about 3 to 4 days for the new levels of increase to make their way throughout west Kentucky communities.
