Graves High well-represented at MSU’s Quad-State Band Festival

Graves HS band members GRAVES QUAD-STATE BAND – Graves County High School Band members who auditioned and were chosen to participate in the Kentucky Music Educators’ Association’s Quad-State Band Festival Feb. 24 – 26 at Murray State University are pictured. They include, from left, (back row) C.J. Elliott – French Horn, Todd Shifflett - Percussion, Mitchell Rollins – Saxophone,  (middle row) Abby Reed - Flute, Chris Rice – Trumpet, Robert Cagle – Trumpet, Devan Reed – Percussion, Zach Shafer – Trombone;  (front row) Zach Smith - Trombone, Danielle Elmore – Clarinet, Nicole McDaniel - Clarinet, Jackson Sanderson - French Horn, and Hunter Moffitt – Trombone.

Students are nominated by their band director and are then selected by the University based on the student’s audition ranking and the Quad-State Band’s instrumentation needs. The selected students attended a two day clinic with rehearsals on Thursday and Friday.  A concert was presented at the conclusion of their clinic weekend on Saturday morning. The Graves County Band is directed by Jeff Williams with assistant directors Ellis Shelby and Craig Fuqua.
