Purchase Area Jefferson Jackson Dinner 2011: A grand night for singing
Belting out the big finish: Jack Conway, Mark Blankenship, Shea Nickell, Todd Hollenbach

McCracken Court of Appeals Judge Shea Nickell gave his usual stirring rendition of the National Anthem. Nickell, an accomplished singer, is a staple at political and church gatherings throughout the region.

He introduced My Old Kentucky Home, by recalling deceased Governor Happy Chandler’s version. For those who heard Chandler belt out the state song, it was unforgettable.

Nickell invited three in the audience to share the singing of My Old Kentucky Home with him: Attorney General Jack Conway, State Treasurer Todd Hollenbach and Calloway/Marshall Commonwealth Attorney Mark Blankenship.  Their sound may not resonate like Happy Chandler’s, but their facial expressions were just as memorable.
