Students receive MCCCE awards
Ameer McClure, Bishlam Pea, Alexandria "Allie" Taylor, Alex Burns, Alexis Taylor, Jared Frazier, Dominique Wharton, Azia Rouse

Paducah Tilghman seniors Alexandria Burns, Jared Frazier, Ameer McClure, Bishlam Pea, Azia Rouse, Alexandria "Allie" Taylor, Alexis Taylor, and Dominique Wharton have been selected to the receive the McCracken County Community Career Endowment(MCCCE) Scholarship for 2012. The recognition ceremony will be held at the West Kentucky Community and Technical College Emerging Technology Center at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2012.

MCCCE awards the scholarships to students who display a strong commitment to continuing their post secondary education and pursuing a career that insures a sustainable income. The scholarships are made possible through an endowment created by the late Fred Paxton and his wife, Peggy, in 2005.

Alexandria Burns is a member of the PTHS Band of Blue, Beta Club, and FBLA. She volunteers with the KEYS II program at Broadway United Methodist Church and works part-time at McDonalds. She plans to attend the University of Kentucky and major in Business. Her parents are Rosie and Kenneth Burns.

Jared Frazier is a member of the Golf team, Bowling team, Speech team, Band of Blue, Jazz Band, Prime Rib, and Concert Choir. He is a member of the Holy Cadets. He plans to attend Murray State University and major in Counseling. His mother is Opal Hamilton.

Ameer McClure is a member of the Band of Blue. He is a drummer, usher, and member of the Holy Cadets at Washington Street Baptist Church. He plans to attend WKCTC and major in Physical Therapy. His parents are Teresa and Douglas McClure.

Bishlam Pea is a member of the Soccer team, Track team, Cross Country team, and Band of Blue. He is also a member of the Oscar Cross Boys and Girls Keystone Club, Holy Cadets and Drummers for God. He plans to attend the University of Kentucky and major in nursing. His parents are Regina and Daryl Pea.

Azia Rouse is a member of the Beta Club, Spanish Club, Recycling Club, Student Council, and Band of Blue Color Guard. She is a manager for the Lady Tornado Basketball team. She is a member of the Oscar Cross Boys and Girls Keystone Club, and serves as a mentor. She is a mentor at Abraham Hall. She is a member of the Harrison Street Missionary Baptist Church youth ministry, hospitality ministry, and children's church ministry. She plans to attend the University of Kentucky and major in Nutrition. Her mother is Felicia Rouse.

Alexandria "Allie" Taylor is a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, Spanish Club, Film Club, and FCCLA. She is a member of New Greater Love Missionary Baptist Church and tutors elementary and middle school students. She plans to attend the University of Louisville and major in Pre-Medicine. Her parents are April and Fairley Taylor.

Alexis Taylor is a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, Spanish Club, Volleyball Team, Basketball Team, and Track Team. She is a member of New Greater Love Missionary Baptist Church and serves in the church's mentoring program. She plans to attend the University of Louisville and major in Pre-Dentistry. Her parents are April and Fairley Taylor.

Dominique Wharton is a member of the Band of Blue, and FBLA. He is a member of the choir and mime ministry at his church. The works as a sales associate at TJ Maxx.  He plans to attend WKCTC and major in Criminal Justice. His mother is Ayesha Wharton.
