Blake Denson

Paducah Tilghman senior Blake Denson won the University of Kentucky Opera Theater Alltech Vocal Scholarship Competition. The competition was held on the University of Kentucky campus at the Singletary Center for the Arts on March 9, 2014. Over 300 undergraduate and graduate students auditioned, with twenty being invited to compete for the award.

Denson will receive $5,000 and four years of full tuition at the University of Kentucky. He will also receive a scholarship to study privately in Vienna, Austria in the summer of 2015.

Denson is a member of the PTHS Band of the Blue, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, and Prime Rib. His voice teacher is Natalie Krupansky. He was cast as Ali Hakim in the PTHS production of the musical Oklahoma! He was cast as Seaweed in the Market House Theatre production of Hairspray. He recently won Bellarmine University's "Traditional Negro Spiritual" voice competition.
