McConnell's 47% moment?
Microphones come in all shapes and sizes as Senator McConnell is finding out.

The Nation Magazine and "Underground" got hold of a recording of a June meeting Senator Mitch McConnell had with billionaire donors.

On the tape, among more predictable promises - like the demise of the health care law, no minimum wage increase, the EPA getting reamed- McConnell reveals that the worst moment in his political life was when George W. Bush signed the McCain Feingold Act.

Is this McConnell's 47% moment? Romney's remarks to rich donors that attempted to tell them - I'm one of you and not one of them - backfired when a secret recording was made. It may have been the final nail in the Romney campaign coffin.

Barack Obama also had his own moment of saying the right thing for his audience but the wrong thing for the rest of the electorate with his "clinging to guns and religion" remarks to a San Francisco audience.

Senator McConnell has already dealt with one secret recording episode when a recording of a strategy session was made from the other side of a door.

McConnell, like other 20th century politicians in a 21st century world are having a hard time figuring out that where there's a cell phone, there's not only a camera, but recording equipment. That speech that was not for general consumption that somehow is now out for general consumption.

It will be interesting to hear whether the Senator embraces his remarks or 'splains them away.
