Two MSU alums compete for $100,000 on Framework, 9:00 p.m CDT SPIKE 1-6-15

MURRAY, Ky. -- Jessica Brown and Craig Bayens, two Murray State University alumni, will showcase their design and craftsmanship skills on the premiere of Framework tonight, Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 9 p.m. (Central Time) on SPIKE television. The new competition series, focused around the creation of custom furniture pieces, is promised to "change the way people look at furniture," said show host, Common.

The 13 furniture builders will be judged on their craftsmanship, skill and style for a prize of $100,000 and an opportunity for their work to be sold by a major manufacturer.

Brown is from Paducah, Ky., and graduated with a bachelor of fine arts degree in studio art in 2006. Her expertise consists of wood, lathe turning, mid-century Danish style and re-claimed lumber. She also received a master's of industrial design from the Rhode Island School of Design. Brown is currently the owner of Lady J Designs.

Bayens received his bachelor of arts degree in psychology in 2004 and is originally from Louisville, Ky. His expertise is in woodwork and metal. He is the owner of C. Bayens Furniture & Functional Design in Louisville.
