Cake Decorating in One Day at WKCTC

PADUCAH, KY (June 1, 2016) - Cake Decorating Course 1 Building Buttercream Skills, a community education favorite at West Kentucky Community and Technical College is back with a special one-day course June 18 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the college's Emerging Technology Center Cyber Café.

"For those who couldn't make it to our longer cake decorating classes, we wanted to offer them the opportunity to learn these fun and creative techniques all in one day," said Kevin O'Neill, WKCTC community education director.

Certified Wilton Method Instructor Linda Mayes is also back to teach the one-day course with a cost of $69, which includes a student kit and guide fee. Participants should bring their own apron and wear closed-toe shoes.

During Course 1 Building Buttercream Skills, participants can learn how to decorate cakes and sweet treats with basic buttercream techniques and six simple-to-pipe flowers that transform ordinary cakes into extraordinary results.

The class will cover how to make a delicious buttercream and techniques and tips for creating beautiful decorations including stars, rosettes, bag striping, Star Drop Flower, Daisy, the Zinnia and much more. Participants will decorate cupcakes before going home to show friends and family all they learned in class.
