 Senator Rand Paul - looking for another term (Fancy Farm KY) - Senator Rand Paul came back to Fancy Farm Picnic, a place that first saw his rise to national prominence, ready to make the case for another term.
Paul spent much of his five minutes criticizing Democrats who weren't present. He linked Alison Lundergan Grimes to Jim Gray.
A young reporter explained to me that this strategy was to tie Gray to Hillary Clinton through Grimes. ("Oh. Okay")
Paul spent no time discussing his time in the Senate or his failed presidential campaign. He continues to support tea party goals of limited government. Paul did tell the crowd that America needs to defend its borders, but stopped short of advocating building a wall like Donald Trump.
Lots of signs for Senator Paul and a large cheering section. Since Paul is leading in the polls, that may be all it takes to win in Kentucky. |
