Ice Storm 2009: Day 7: Sunday: We Gather Together

Sunday, February 1st, We gathered together and thanked God for the sun and a power that couldn't be frozen by an ice storm - love of God, family, friends and neighbors. Above, the Clinton United Methodist Church sanctuary was bright and cheery - even if the temperature was hovering between cold and merely chilly.

Piano and guitar music.

Sunlight streaming in the stained glass windows. One small kerosene heater in the center aisle.

Methodist minister, Aaron Dowdy, shared the service with New Hope Community Church minister, Ken Jewell. They both looked tired and unshaven- and with good reason - they had been working for days.

Below, Grandmom smiles as Mom entertains baby during the service.

It was uplifing, joyful and just what we needed.
