Henson Promoted to Warden
at Western Kentucky Correctional Complex
Frankfort, Ky. (September 16, 2009) – Kentucky Department of Corrections Commissioner LaDonna Thompson today announced the promotion of Bryan Henson to Warden at Western Kentucky Correctional Complex (WKCC) located in Lyon County. He replaces Becky Pancake who announced her retirement earlier this month after 31 years of service to the Department.
Henson has been a deputy warden at the prison since 2005 and will assume his new position as warden today.
Henson began his corrections career as a Correctional Officer at WKCC in July 1989. He was promoted to Classification and Treatment Officer in 1990 and Classification and Treatment Officer II in 1999. In October of 2000, Henson assumed the duties of Correctional Unit Administrator II. From February 2004 to April 2004, He acted in the Deputy Warden capacity until a warden was named at WKCC. In November of 2005, Henson was promoted to Deputy Warden and since that date has served as Deputy Warden of Programs and Support Services.
“Bryan Henson is an example of someone who has worked his way up through the ranks of Corrections, and shown he has what it takes to lead,” said Commissioner Thompson. “He serves as an inspiration to those men and women we have serving as Corrections Officers today. With his familiarity of the region, his knowledge of the institution, he is an excellent match as warden.”
Henson is a graduate of Murray State University with a degree in Criminal Justice. He and his wife Sheri reside in Livingston County with their twin daughters, Kelsee and Kinsee.
