Land Use Change

It's somewhat ironic to me that the same week that great scandal hits our little town that the old Clinton City Hall I remember ends life.  It's been going downhill steadily for several years. The city sold the building to the Clinton Fire Department (that's not run by the city). What plans the Fire Department have for the space is up in the air.

Jimmy Lemons Excavating brought in a big yellow shovel to bring the building down.My camera and I watch as a building that has served many purposes comes down brick by brick. The big yellow shovel nibbles at the front of the building like a horse lipping a sugar cube. Careful management kept the debris away from the busy highway the building fronts.

While the city building disappears, the old gas station next door is getting a coat of paint and new life as a used car lot. At last, the building is just a pile of rubble to be removed with dump trucks loaded down with memories, old brick and twisted metal.
