Land Use Change
Photo essay by Ivan Potter Jimmy Lemons Excavating brought in a big yellow shovel to bring the building down.My camera and I watch as a building that has served many purposes comes down brick by brick. The big yellow shovel nibbles at the front of the building like a horse lipping a sugar cube. Careful management kept the debris away from the busy highway the building fronts. While the city building disappears, the old gas station next door is getting a coat of paint and new life as a used car lot. At last, the building is just a pile of rubble to be removed with dump trucks loaded down with memories, old brick and twisted metal.
