Kentucky Ag Investment Board approves new hog facilities

On December 18th, the Kentucky Agricultural Development Board, chaired by Governor Steve Beshear, approved changes to the County Agricultural Investment Program, aka CAIP.

The new guidelines,  linked in pdf below, added construction of new swine facilities to its list of programs that tobacco diversification money can be used for. The tobacco industry settled with states' attorneys general for the health damage that our once signature product had caused over the years.
Part of the money goes to recoup losses by the state having to take care of sick smokers, part goes to stop smoking campaigns and other funds go to help farmers grow other products.
We'll be looking for new Tosh factory farm one thousand pig barns locating next to the posh thoroughbred horse farms in the Bluegrass.
