Former Governor Carroll endorses Mongiardo

West Kentucky native former Governor Julian Carroll today endorsed Lt. Governor Daniel Mongiardo in his race to be the nominee to run for the seat currently held by retiring Senator Jim Bunning.

Carroll said, "I am proud to endorse Daniel Mongiardo for the United States Senate.  Six years ago, when no one else would, Daniel Mongiardo had the courage to stand up to the failed economic policies of Jim Bunning and George Bush.  Daniel is an independent Democrat with the personal fortitude and strength of character to stand up and fight for Kentucky's working families and their jobs, even if it means opposing our party's political establishment in Washington.  I believe it is that kind of independent leadership that Kentucky families of all political stripes are looking for - a candidate who will always put Kentucky first.  That's Daniel Mongiardo."

Carroll, who was governor from 1974-1979, now is a state senator representing Franklin, Anderson, Woodford and Fayette Counties.
