Dem Debate 5/7/10: Taxes - nobody wants 'em

QUESTION: Are you for or against the value added tax and what changes are made in the tax code?

Mongiardo: Against value added tax. Must lower cost of health care. Spending out of control.

Conway: Against value added tax – we are consumer driven society. Eighty three out of top one hundred companies have off shore tax shelters. Pass a small business corporate tax credit to create jobs.

Buckmaster: Government has plenty of money. Cut expenses. Don’t get more money. When tax credits expire, then medium to low income tax payers will struggle to pay. We are going to see medium to lower class mortgage foreclosures. We must go on a tax diet.

Sweeney: Opposed to value added tax. Fund angel programs for those who fund new businesses.

Price: Against value added tax. “Let’s review how we got here. George Bush and President Darth Vader Cheney took a deficit dump all over this country for eight years. Republicans are acting like Barack Obama is walking out of the bathroom zipping up his pants.” Roll back the Bush/Cheney tax cuts for the rich. Corporations benefit from buying politicians.
