Mapping Precincts in the Jackson Purchase

JACKSON PURCHASE PRECINCTS BY SIZE -

The entire election comes down to the geography of precincts. In Kentucky politics, precincts are the building blocks of our electoral process.  The Jackson Purchase has 175 precincts in eight counties.

The number of voters in Jackson Purchase precincts can range from 10 in Fulton County's Madrid Bend  precinct to McCracken County's Lone Oak #1 with 2305 registered voters.  The number of precincts a county divides into depends on its population. The size of the precinct varies wildly - even within the same county. Lone Oak #1 has 2305. In the same city is Lone Oak #3 with 116.

Present day campaigns ignore precinct level politics. Old time "Get Out the Vote" programs that focused on precinct captains and volunteers within each precinct has been replaced by robocalls, television ads and student volunteers sent into crucial precincts.

We predict that the world wide web and internet person to person contacts will bring precinct politics back into importance. Organizing a precinct by website and email is the coming thing.
