Pennyrile Precincts - Precincts Vary Widely

The Pennyrile Region of West Kentucky stretches from Lake Barkley and the Ohio River in the west to Logan County in the east.  Population centers include Hopkinsville, Madisonville, Central CIty and Russellville.  This region has 208 precincts.

The region is experiencing rapid population growth. With Evansville to the north and Nashville to the south, the Pennyrile is poised to receive large retirement populations. Already, retirees are flooding into the thirty precincts around the Lakes- Trigg, Lyon, Livingston counties. Many of these new voters are registering Republican.

Within the next decade, much of the growth within the Region will impact future statewide races. What once was heavily Democratic will soon be in play.  Baby boomer retirees will be more independent minded and less bonded to the party of registration.

Blacktop politics will be trumped by rising utility rates, environmental issues and water resource and quality of life concerns. Baby boomers will be looking for cultural and tourism activities that will put a strain on existing facilities.
