Trick or Treat time again

Michael Bugg

Well it’s Trick-or-Treat time again.  The media are chock-full of people wearing the costumes of “caring representatives” wanting treats.  The problem is, determining which ones are going to trick you.

Let’s think back to 2000 when the master trickster, George W. Bush promised to be a “uniter, not a divider.”  George inherited a good economy, 4.3% unemployment, reasonable interest rates, low inflation, much lower oil prices, relative peace, and budget surpluses projected to last through 2012, two years from now!

But with the help of Mitch McConnell, Ed Whitfield, and their friends, that all went away.  To make matters worse McConnell and Whitfield helped Bush start two wars that still drag on today, thanks to their mismanagement, at a cost of the lives of over 5000 of our soldiers and $2 trillion, so far, and every penny of it borrowed!  Iraq got new bridges, America got collapsed bridges.  The price of oil went up, not down!

Bush cut taxes promising that those liberated dollars would make the economy boom!  Instead the sound we heard was a crash fostered by Bush’s friends on Wall Street, the big banks, and in corporate board rooms all over the country.  For eight years America lost jobs, China gained them!  We got less regulation and more corruption!  Huge deficits were guaranteed for years.

And guess what, Whitfield and Rand Paul are knocking on your door promising that if you will give them another chance to be in charge they will do it all again!
