Students plant trees for Veterans DayCOMMEMORATIVE TREES – Gateway Academy students Cortez Lockett, John Mark Poole and Michael Corey-Thomas are shown on Veterans’ Day planting one of two willow trees in honor of those who have served in the U.S. military.

The trees are located in a highly visible area, near the up-ramp of the U.S. Highway 45 overpass in northern Mayfield. Gateway Academy High School is located nearby, in the former Graves County Health Department building.

Since 2002, Gateway has provided an alternative route to the high school diploma for well over 350 students. The Graves County School District sponsors Gateway, but its students have included residents of Mayfield and surrounding counties and have ranged in age from 16-56.
