Graves Middle School student strikes gold at Special Olympics Kentucky Bowling Competition

STRIKING BOWLING GOLD! – Graves County Middle School student Morgan Elliott poses with his two gold medals from the Special Olympics Kentucky Bowling Competition, held the first weekend of December in Lexington. One medal represents a solo competition. The other is for “Unified Partners,” a competition that teams a competitor with a disability with a partner without a mental disability. Morgan teamed with his father, Michael Elliott.

Amy Elliott is Morgan’s mother, Michael’s wife, and a teacher at Wingo Elementary School. She said the Graves County group that attended enjoyed the “Southern Lights Festival” at the Kentucky Horse Park Friday night, competition on Saturday, and a dance Saturday night.

“I actually rode a camel at the horse park. A couple of athletes wanted me to ride with them and I could not say no to them,” Amy Elliott said. “It was one of the best weekends of my life. Being a part of the excitement my son and all the athletes felt was a real blessing! I was very proud of all of them!”
