Seven Graves High musicians selected for 2011 All-State Orchestra

GRAVES ALL-STATE SYMPHONY – Pictured above: These four Graves County High School students were selected as members of the All-State Symphony Orchestra, a full ensemble featuring strings, percussion, brass, and woodwinds. Their teacher-director, Laura Hill, called their selection “the highest strings honor in the state.” They include, from left, senior viola player Harper Southerland and three bass players: sophomore Allora Hobbs, junior Clifton Hendley, and senior Clay Burgess.

GRAVES ALL-STATE COMMONWEALTH ORCHESTRA – Seven Graves County High School students earned All-State Orchestra honors, according to their director, Laura Hill. Selected for the all-string ensemble, better known as the Commonwealth Orchestra, are (from left) sophomore Katie Armstrong, Commonwealth Second Violin; sophomore Shelly Burgess, Commonwealth Cello; and senior Holly Jones, Commonwealth First Violin. Senior Savannah Tucker (not pictured) was chosen as a viola alternate.
