Governor Beshear files for re-election

Governor Steve Beshear and former Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson filed their candidacy papers today in Frankfort.  Beshear is seeking a second term as governor and Abramson is on the slate in the race for Lt. Gov.

Beshear will face the survivor of a GOP primary and independent candidate Gatewood Galbraith in November. Senate President David Williams and running mate Commissioner of Agriculture Richie Farmer are considered the favorites in the GOP race.

Gov. Beshear also announced that Bill Hyers, who has run gubernatorial, senatorial and mayoral campaigns across the nation, had joined the campaign as campaign manager. “I am thrilled to join the Beshear Abramson campaign, and their efforts to bring prosperity to all corners of the Commonwealth,” said Hyers.
