Pondering Progress

Discussing ideas are, from left, chairman Kevin Curtsinger, board member Donnie Reed, vice-chairman Jim Wurth, and board member Ronnie Holmes.

The Graves County Board of Education recently held a retreat with district principals one day and with other administrators on a second day. The purpose was to inform and update board members on the district’s duties, progress, and challenges, including state government requirements, budget cuts, and other changes.

The long sessions included presentations and discussion with all administrators. Board chairman Kevin Curtsinger said the board was “amazed” at the tremendous philosophy and planning that supports the constant effort to grow and improve in teaching and learning. The district has ranked among Kentucky’s top 7.5 percent academically since 2004.
