The Graves County School District is partnering with CWI to promote recycling throughout the county. Recycling has been popular in urban areas for decades, but has not been as popular in rural areas for various reasons. As a way to draw attention to the need to separate paper, plastics, and more, CWI and the school district’s Maintenance Department are co-sponsoring a contest. Students at all eight elementary schools will paint and otherwise decorate their CWI trash bins to spread the news about recycling in Graves County. Inclement weather has delayed the project, but students and their teachers are working on it now.

The winning school will be announced this spring and will receive a $500 cash award from CWI. Additionally, CWI provides a recycle bin for public use at its office on Jimtown Road, just north of Mayfield.
